Aled Cottle

Price4President puts the boot in by making Aled Cottle's ill-judged email the front page of the Daily Post.

Friends in high places, eh?

Price4President curiously does not jump at this chance to tar all Plaid members with this brush:
Nat Watch would like to make clear that we do not believe that the views of Mr Cottle are shared by the vast majority of Welsh or Scottish Nationalists.
NatWatch2 wonders what has brought on this change of heart?

Nice to see balanced reporting in the Daily Post. So, what's the worse crime - a drunken and misguided e-mail or a complete lie about the author and address of the blog registered?

I get the impression the author is a bit fucked in the head and keeps refering to him/herself as 'we'.

(Could it be the Queen of England)

Normally in articles like this, they mention the name of the site owner and give a quote, otherwise it's not much of a story.
An annonimous website is sent an abusive e-mail. So what?

A user on maes-e just raised an interesting point about Natwatch. The site's blurb says: Exposing the failure, mendacity and xenophobia of nationalists in Scotland and Wales. Stories, newsletters and contributions gratefully received. Click here to contact us in confidence.

But when Aled Cottle contacted the site's owner, the still cosily anonymous price4president, the first thing that happened was that his email, sent "in confidence" remember, was reprinted on the website, and the next thing he knows he's on the front page of the Daily Post and facing disciplinary procedings at work.

I don't defend what Cottle said in the least, but he did make those comments on the understanding that they would be in confidence. Unless p4p has a different definition of "in confidence". Or of "mendacity", I suppose.

Perhaps I have read nat watch wrong but have they ...or Carl Serjeant etc called for Aled Cottle to be expelled from Plaid? If so its quite funny as I am told he is not a member:)
